Submit a Pet

Our Foster Home program was created to help a military service member who has not been able to find a family member/friend to care for their beloved pet(s) prior to deployment to fight the war on terror (combat or peace keeping missions), so they can deploy in harm's way without concerns for their pet's welfare and know their beloved pet(s) will be waiting for them to return safely home.

This program is available to all branches of service and domestic pets throughout our country. Based on the number of potential foster homes available we may need to foster the pet in another part of your state or in another state as close to where the pet owner and their pets are located.

We are not a rescue group or shelter; we are unique in that we recruit, interview, and monitor caring, loving, and safe homes open to your pet with a written agreement to return your pet to you at the end of the agreed to foster term.  We support our military and we are animal lovers; we have simply blended our passions, to honor you by reuniting you with your pet following a deployment or emergency hardship.

When possible, please submit pet's information at least 30-60 days prior to anticipated deployment date. The more time we have the better we will be able to assist you.

We require the following:

  1. The preparation and submission of our "Military Service Member Pet Profile" document (available below).
  2. Submit picture of your pet to militarypetprofile@guardianangelsforsoldierspet.org
  3. Health & Shot Certificate issued by your veterinarian within 10 days prior to pet being placed in foster home.
  4. The pet is spayed/neutered before the pet is brought to the foster home. (see "Altered Pet Policy" below)
  5. Arrangements made with the pet's vet or the foster home caregiver's vet in regards to any pet care billing arrangements.
  6. Assist with food expense.
  7. Provide copies to the foster home of the pet(s) veterinarian records which should include "Veterinary Certificate of Health", Vaccination certificate. If your pet is feline, then the FIV Test certificate needs to be provided in addition to the above documentation.

During the time your pet is fostered in a "Approved Foster Home" we work with the foster home to ensure the pet remains in a caring, loving, and safe home environment.

Military Service Member Pet Profile Information:

Note: When submitting information please show the latest date that you need pet(s) placed in a foster home (Foster Home Needed No Later Than question) not the date you expect to be reunited with your pet.

If this is an Emergency Hardship fostering assistance request -  please provide full details as to your situation in the "Additional Comments" section of the submission form.  The more detailed information we have the better we can assist in matching your pet(s) with the appropriate foster home.
