Jack "One-Eyed" Smoot

Jack "One-Eyed" Smoot a long time resident of the Hot Springs, Arkansas area and native of Arkansas has worked and assisted military service members, our veterans, and their families through his involvement with the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Military Order of the Cooties (MOC), Vietnam Veterans Organizations (VVO), and the American Legion.

Jack is a veteran of the Vietnam War where he served in the U. S. Navy aboard a landing ship tanker and a light landing craft. He was in the Navy for 12 years and achieved the rank of Boatswain's Mate (E5). After leaving the U.S. Navy, he worked in the automotive trim business and construction.

Jack life member of VFW Post 2278 has held positions of past Post 2278 Commander, past District 9 Commander, and named as one of 115 Post Commanders through out the United States as All-American Post Commander in 2004 by VFW National, plus one of the original 7 VFW members starting the VFW Post 2278 Honor Guard. He is member of the MOC Pup Tent #8 as Past MOC commander, past Arkansas Grand Commander, and MOC 14th Supreme council member. In addition to involvement with the VFW, he is member of the VVO of Hot Springs, AR and American Legion Post #13.

His role with Guardian Angels For Soldier's Pet as Outreach Director will involve working with various military support groups, veteran service organizations, and businesses to promote the organization's mission, plus working with the organization's Fundraising committee in planning events to show support to our troops and raise funds.

Jack and his wife, Teresa have been married for 40 years and have 4 children and 12 grandchildren.
