Foster Home Program

This program has been developed to assist our United States Armed Forces personnel (Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard) including activated National Guard and Reservists with pets that due to a deployment (combat or peacekeeping or humanitarian mission) or an unforeseen hardship (medical, homelessness) need assistance in locating and placing their beloved pet/pets into a caring and loving temporary foster home for a period up to one year (depending on deployment or hardship term). The situations we assist with relate to where the military pet owner has been unable to locate a family member or friend who is able or willing to care for these beloved pets.

Our primary objective is to assist in a way so that our heroes can deploy without any concerns for their pet's welfare and know their beloved pet(s) will be waiting for them to return safely home.

This program is available to all branches of service and Veterans for domestic pets throughout our country.

Based on the number of potential foster homes available we may need to foster the pet in another part of your state or in another state as close to where the pet owner and their pets are located.  Where you have more than 1 pet needing to be placed into one of our foster homes, we will make every possible effort to do so, but depending on available resources, this may not be possible.

We are not a rescue group or shelter; we are unique in that we recruit, interview, and monitor caring, and safe homes open to your pet with a written agreement to return your pet to you at the end of the agreed to foster term.  We support our military and we are animal lovers; we have simply blended our passions, to honor you by reuniting you with your pet following a deployment or emergency hardship.

We do not charge a fee for providing this service, though the military pet owner is responsible for the same pet related care expenses (food, treats, grooming, veterinarian, etc.) as they would be responsible for if not deployed.

Our affiliated MN Chapter and state specific Support Teams provide assistance in determining a potential foster home within our foster home network, organizing and/or attending the “Greet and Meet”, and during the foster term remains in contact with the specific foster home (Guardian Angel) to ensure the pet/pets remain in a loving and safe home environment, plus works with the foster home in regards to any issues or concerns encountered.

Where possible, please submit pet's information a minimum of at least 30-45 days prior to the date for placing your pet/pets into one of our potential foster homes. The overall process from the time we receive the full requested information submission form (1 submission form pet pet) until a pet may be placed in a specific foster home averages 15 to 20 working days.  The more time we have the better we will be able to assist you.
